During this period, major negative and fake narratives, besides propaganda dealing with wars in Ukraine and Gaza, were local as the national parliament and partial local elections, held on 17th December, took the media spotlight. The election campaign of the ruling SNS party and its satellites had way more visibility than the entire opposition. It was, as usually, marked by smear campaign against opposition, false narratives and lack of both transparency and dialogue. Such an atmosphere keeps Serbia highly vulnerable to conspiracy theories and fake narratives.

In the report of Anti-Disinformation Network for the Balkans, you can see which narratives were represented in other Western Balkan countries and how media promoted Russian influence in the Balkans in the context of existing conflicts.
