Webinar: Countering Anti-EU Narratives in the Western Balkans

The Metamorphosis Foundation invites you to an interactive panel discussion on “Countering Anti-EU Narratives and Hate Speech in the Western Balkans: Challenges and Responses.”

This session will unpack the most persistent anti-EU narratives shaping public opinion across the region. We’ll explore how political actors, partisan media, and ideological groups frame the EU as a threat to identity, sovereignty, or traditional values—and how these narratives have evolved in recent years. Our discussion will also examine their impact on EU integration paths and the interplay between internal political crises and external geopolitical pressures.

Beyond narratives, we’ll address how hate speech amplifies anti-EU rhetoric—often targeting minorities, civil society, and pro-European voices—fueling polarization and legitimizing Euroscepticism. The webinar will offer practical strategies for media professionals, civil society, and policymakers to counter disinformation, mitigate hate speech, and strengthen resilience against coordinated anti-EU messaging.
