4th CFSP Conference: New Perspectives for the Western Balkans

Within the framework of the multi-year program dealing with the Common Foreign and Security Policy of the EU, and its impact on the process of Serbia’s accession, ISAC fund is organizing its 4th annual conference on trends and perspectives within this field, as well as on positioning Serbia in the development of a common external, security and defense EU approach. The conference will be held on April 25th, 2018 at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Belgrade.

This year, the main focus of the conference will be on further implementation of the EU Global Strategy, as well as new initiatives and changes in the field of security and defense, including PESCO. In the light of new trends in the field of security and defense cooperation, the conference will consider how Serbia and the Western Balkans fit into these new initiatives, as well as whether it leads to the change in the context of obligations arising from Chapter 31, including specific issues which Serbia faces within the accession process. Key points that will be discussed during this conference will include Serbia’s position in foreign policy, especially regarding relations with Russia and the European Union, as well as implementation and functioning of Permanent Structural Cooperation (PESCO) and its implications to the EU and future Member States.

ISAC Fund is pleased to announce that Mr. Ivica Dačić, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, will give an opening address and that Mr. Sven Biscop, Director of the Europe program world at the Royal Institute for International Relations – Egmont, will visit Serbia for the first time and give a speech at this year CFSP conference. As in previous years, present and former EU and member states institutional officials will be present at the conference, as well as the high representatives of the Government of Serbia.
